Terms of Service
Last updated: October 13, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Wavind (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Wavind is a wind and watersports planning application that helps users discover spots, monitor wind and weather conditions, compare multi-model forecasts, save and customize forecast views, use AI assistant and trip-planning features, log sessions, and manage related account preferences.
To use Wavind, you need an internet connection and a device with a current web browser or a supported Wavind mobile app.
3. User Accounts
You may browse certain features without an account. To access the full Service, you must create an account with Google, Sign in with Apple, or a sign-in code sent to your email.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
The Service is intended for users 16 years of age or older. By creating an account and accepting these Terms, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 16 has created an account, contact us at [email protected] to have it removed.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or provide unlawful content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without permission
- Upload malicious content or code
- Impersonate another person or entity
5. User Content
You retain ownership of content you create through the Service (such as session logs, spot reviews, and photos). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content as part of operating the Service.
6. Forecast and Spot Information Disclaimer
Weather and wind forecast data provided through the Service is sourced from third-party providers and is intended for informational purposes only. Spot details may be AI-assisted and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect, including safety, access, restrictions, local rules, and rescue information. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of forecast data or spot information. Always exercise your own judgment and consult official weather services, local authorities, and local sources before engaging in wind sports or other weather-dependent activities.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Wavind and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wavind shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated terms on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Paid Subscriptions and Billing
Wavind offers a paid Pro subscription that increases selected product limits. Paid subscriptions are optional. You can buy one on the Wavind website or in the Wavind iPhone app.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected billing period unless cancelled before the next renewal date.
- Prices, billing periods, taxes, renewal dates, and any trial or promotional terms are shown before you confirm a purchase.
- Pro belongs to your Wavind account, so it works wherever you sign in. A subscription is managed, cancelled and refunded where you bought it.
On the website, you buy Pro through Paddle, our merchant of record and payment processor:
- Paddle handles checkout, payment processing, tax calculation, invoices, receipts, payment method updates, and subscription billing support.
- You can manage, change, cancel, or resume a subscription from the Wavind account billing area or the Paddle customer portal when available. Cancellation stops future renewals and Pro access continues until the end of the paid period unless Paddle or applicable law requires otherwise.
- Refund requests are handled under our Refund Policy and Paddle's buyer terms.
In the iPhone app, you buy Pro through Apple's App Store:
- Apple processes the payment and charges it to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Apple handles billing and renewals under its own terms.
- To change or cancel, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone, or tap Manage in the App Store on Wavind's Pro screen. Turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Apple, not Wavind, decides on refunds for App Store purchases. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, the Pro access it paid for ends.
Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply in your country.
Apps Downloaded from the App Store
If you got the Wavind iPhone or Apple Watch app from Apple's App Store, your use of the app is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms apply alongside it; where the two conflict for the app, the Standard EULA prevails. In addition:
- These Terms are between you and Wavind only, not Apple. Wavind, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. For support, write to us at the address at the end of these Terms.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- Wavind, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Wavind, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile data agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Community Content and Zero Tolerance
Some of what you see on Wavind is written by other people: notes and photos in condition observations, spot photos, and messages in booking conversations. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not post or send anything that:
- is hateful or discriminatory, or attacks people for who they are
- harasses, threatens, bullies or intimidates anyone
- is sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise obscene or offensive
- is spam or advertising, or deliberately false or misleading
- shares someone else's personal information without their permission
- is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights
Observation notes and photos are checked before other riders see them. Anything that looks objectionable is held until our team has reviewed it.
On another rider's observation, open the ⋯ menu to report the note or to hide all of that rider's observations. This works on the website and in the iPhone app.
To report a message in a booking conversation, a photo, a business page or a user, write to [email protected] .
We review every report within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules, and we suspend or close the accounts of users who post it or abuse others.
Booking requests
Some schools, rentals and other businesses take booking requests on Wavind.
- Sending a request is free.
- A request is not a booking. It is confirmed only when the business confirms it.
- You pay the business directly. No payment goes through Wavind.
- The contract for the lesson, rental or stay is between you and the business. The business sets its services, prices and conditions.
- Wavind does not provide or guarantee those services and is not a party to that contract.
Data sources and attribution
Wavind combines its own analysis with data from third parties. Each source is credited below under the licence it is provided on.
- Open-Meteo - weather and marine forecast data, provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
- OpenStreetMap - place names, search results, geocoding, and the street map basemap, provided under the Open Database Licence.
- Esri - satellite and street map imagery shown in the map views.
Google Maps in the Android app
The Wavind Android app shows maps provided by Google Maps. By using those maps, you agree to be bound by the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service.
Google processes the data those maps need under the Google Privacy Policy.
